PORT-AU-PRINCE: The second batch of relief materials donated by the Chinese government arrived here on Tuesday night.
The relief materials, weighing 65 tons and worth 13 million RMB ($1.85 million), include 400 portable power generators, 10 water purifying machines, 500 tents, 20,000 items of clothing, medicine and other goods.
"I think the Haitians are in most urgent need of these materials. We hope these materials will help them come through the historically most serious disaster (in Haiti)," Wang Shuping, China's business representative in Haiti, said.
A senior Haitian official and a World Health Organization coordinator in Haiti expressed their gratitude to China.
