Thai flood death toll rises to 790

BANGKOK - A total of 790 were confirmed dead and there are still some people missing in the floods that hit many provinces, including Bangkok, the Disaster Prevention and Mitigation said on Thursday.

The floods still prevail in 33 districts in central provinces of Ayutthaya, Lop Buri, Nakhon Pathom, Pathum Thani and Nonthaburi provinces, effecting 2.3 million people.

The flood has hit the country since July 25 and have affected 13.6 million people in 65 provinces. The department on Monday reported the toll at 762.

The department also reported that a total of 26 provinces have been declared cold spell disaster zones since the cold weather hit the country in Nov 2. Most of them are in the north and northeastern part of the country.
