NEW DELHI - Indian will raise the issue of nuclear cooperation with Japan during Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda's visit here from Tuesday for the 6th annual India- Japan summit, reported local media.

Noda is scheduled to arrive Tuesday afternoon in the Indian capital.

India had held three rounds of negotiations with Japan for civil nuclear cooperation but it was suspended after the Fukushima disaster in March this year.

The last time India and Japan held discussions for civil nuclear agreement was in November, 2010.

"I am quite sure that this is a subject which will be discussed between the two prime ministers but I cannot tell you what will be the outcome of those discussions because I do not know how the discussions will go," Indian foreign ministry joint secretary ( East Asia) Gautam Bambawale told the media.

India-Japan civil nuclear cooperation is also important for the United States as it would lift nuclear and high-tech export controls and enable major U.S. suppliers like GE and Westinghouse, who have either Japanese owners or partners, to carry out nuclear commerce with India, said the local daily The Times of India.
