SYDNEY - A woman who was tied up and burned in a house fire in Western Australia (WA), is now hospitalized in a critical condition with family believed to be flying to Perth from China to stay with her, local media reported on Thursday.

The 29-year-old Chinese woman, who is an Australian citizen, remains in an induced coma in Royal Perth Hospital's intensive care unit after suffering burns to 60 percent of her body, the Australian Associated Press (AAP) reported.

She was found by firefighters inside a unit in the southeast suburb of Cannington at about 11:30 am (local time) on Wednesday.

WA Police Commissioner Karl O'Callaghan told reporters on Thursday the woman was in a critical condition.

A man was questioned by police for several hours overnight but was released without charge on Thursday morning, police said.

"We have interviewed somebody this morning - a person of interest - and that person has been released," O'Callaghan said, adding "no charges have been laid as yet".

The woman who underwent surgery on Thursday had been living and working in Perth after graduating as an overseas student.
