SEOUL - South Korea's Cabinet endorsed a bill Tuesday, subjecting corrupt employees at state-run companies to same punishment that government officials would receive.

Under the bill, state firm employees will have to leave their jobs when found to be involved in legal offenses including bribery and embezzlement.

Only government employees and high-ranking officials at state-led companies are currently required to leave the office for committing such irregularities.

The move comes as South Korea pushes for its "fair society" campaign, which calls for bureaucratic transparency and reducing corruption.

The bill will be submitted to the parliament for legislative approval.
