SEOUL - A report showed Monday that an average of 178 suicide attempts were reported annually at bridges across the main Han River in Seoul between 2006 and 2010.
A total of 892 people jumped from Han River bridges over the cited period, according to the report by the Seoul Metropolitan Government.
Mapo Bridge topped the list of attempted suicides at the Han River with 113 cases, followed by Hangang Bridge with 81 attempts.
South Korea had the highest suicide rate among member states of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) in 2009, at 28 deaths per 100,000 people, or about 42 people on average daily.
