VLADIVOSTOK - Human body parts were found Thursday at the site where a Russian An-12 cargo plane crashed two days ago in the country's Far East, local media reported.
Rescuers were unable to identify the bodies, nor determine how many victims were involved as body parts and plane wreckage scattered across a wide area of several kilometers in diameter in the remote Magadan region, said the media reports.
The plane was flying from the city of Magadan to Chukotka autonomous area in Russia's extreme northeast on Tuesday, carrying 11 people and 16 tons of cargo.
The plane reported a fuel leak and a fire in the right engine before it disappeared from radars shortly after its takeoff.
No survivors were found when rescuers reached the crash site on Wednesday morning.
The flight recorders have been recovered. There were signs that the fuel leak might have caused an explosion on board.
