A lawyer for Haisong Jiang, 28, entered the plea in Municipal Court in Newark. The misdemeanor charge carries a fine of up to $500, according to New York Daily News.

Authorities are cited as saying that Jiang, a Rutgers University student, sneaked past a security checkpoint on Jan 3 after a guard left his post.

Jiang was captured on surveillance cameras snuggling up to his girlfriend.

The breach delayed more than 100 flights, stranded thousands of passengers and closed the terminal for more than seven hours.

Jiang, of Piscataway, New Jersey, was arrested on Jan 8.
