KABUL: A work skill training project for over 3,000 women has been launched in northern Afghanistan's Parwan province, local media reported Sunday.

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) funded the training courses at the total cost of around $1 million, according to the English newspaper Outlook Afghanistan.

The training courses would include tailoring, beauty parlor skills and photo taking, Jahan Yazdan, head of the provincial women affairs department, was quoted as saying.

Each female trainee would be given 200 Afghanis ($4) per day, the official told Outlook Afghanistan.
