JOHANNESBURG: A Canadian couple hiking in South Africa's Hermanus was stabbed before being robbed, the Western Cape police reported on Wednesday.

Inspector November Filander told the South African Press Association that two men stoned, stabbed and robbed the couple, a 59-year-old man and a 57-year-old woman, of their jewelry and digital cameras on Tuesday morning.

A group of hikers found the couple tied up with their shoe laces in serious condition and rushed them to hospital for treatment. Police searched the area, but did not find the robbers.
