HAVANA - Many Cuban organizations on Wednesday condemned the US-led war against Iraq on the eve of the fifth anniversary of the military invasion.
In a joint declaration, Cuban organizations including the Cuban Peace Movement and Sovereignty of the Countries, and Solidarity Organization with the Countries of Africa, Asia and Latin America, expressed solidarity with Iraq, where tens of thousands of people have died during five years of violence.
Condemning the US-led military action which started in March 2003 without UN consent, the declaration said that "among the worse war crimes" were those committed in prisons at Abu Ghraib in Baghdad and Guantanamo in eastern Cuba.
The declaration also accused European governments of complicity in secret transfer of prisoners.
The declaration demanded an unconditional pullout of US troops and their allies and called on the international community to defend Iraq's peace rights.
