The 'Did You Hear About The Morgans?' star - who has seven-year-old son James and six-month-old twin daughters Marion Loretta and Tabitha Hodge with husband Matthew Broderick - admits she is struggling to cope with the demands of her career and looking after three young children.

She said: "We choose to be mothers, it's complicated. It's a balancing act and I'm sure I'm failing miserably."

The 'Sex and the City' actress also insisted her day-to-day life is nothing at all similar to her glamorous character Carrie Bradshaw in the hit US series.

She said: "I take my son to school and I have two daughters in diapers who are drooling and teething. I just wear what's appropriate to being a mother.

"In my life, I really am just dressed in whatever is appropriate for the weather - sorry to disappoint you. I'm not Carrie Bradshaw."

The actress recently revealed she is finding it particularly difficult being away from the children and relies on constant communication with her household to cope.

She added: "I've travelled a lot without my family. Of course it's horrible but I don't have a choice. It's very challenging.

"I've received numerous photos of the twins in their crib - doing all the things I am meant to be doing with them all day but it is the eternal conflict of every working woman."
