Statistics show that by May 31, Liangjiang New Area over this year has registered 135 good air days, with the average concentration of PM2.5 hazardous airborne particles down by 15.8 percent to 32 micrograms per cubic meter.

Qiu Yi, an official of the Liangjiang branch of the Chongqing Ecology and Environment Bureau, said that not all lucrative projects can be launched in the new area.

In recent years, a group of industrial programs based in Liangjiang worth a total of 20 billion yuan ($2.99 billion) have been urged to move to elsewhere due to the pollution they have caused.

BOE is a global powerhouse in the semiconductor area, and the establishment of the BOE project is significant for the new area. The bureau therefore has organized expert panels to coordinate with BOE and has persuaded them to increase expenditures on purchasing water recycling facilities.

In addition, the new area government advocates for the use of eco-friendly water-based paint instead of oil paint.

Chongqing's first climate investment and financing pilot zone project applied by the new area has recently been approved. By 2023, Liangjiang will boast a political environment conducive to climate-related investment and financial activities, and by 2025, it will be home to a number of active eco-friendly market players.
