The Singapore Chinese Chamber of Commerce & Industry unveiled its representative office in Liangjiang New Area, Southwest China's Chongqing municipality, on Sept 1. It is the chamber's second office in the world.

Roland Ng San Tiong, president of the chamber, said that the China-Singapore (Chongqing) Demonstration Initiative on Strategic Connectivity and Chongqing's advantageous location would provide more opportunities for Singapore's companies.

As the third cooperation project implemented between China and Singapore's government, the China-Singapore (Chongqing) Demonstration Initiative on Strategic Connectivity focuses on financial services, aviation, transportation logistics and information communication technology.

The project is also expanding to other areas, such as medical treatments, education and tourism. It will benefit other cities in West China and countries and regions involved in the Belt and Road Initiative.

Located along the China Railway Express, Yanjiang Expressway and the New International Land-Sea Corridor, Chongqing boasts connections with cities in China, Southeast Asia, South Asia, Middle Asia and Eurasian, making it convenient for businesses and attractive for foreign investment.

This year marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and Singapore and the fifth anniversary of the implementation of the China-Singapore (Chongqing) Demonstration Initiative on Strategic Connectivity.

During the past five years, Liangjiang has signed 60 joint China-Singapore projects with an $11.5 billion contract volume.

The Singapore Chinese Chamber of Commerce & Industry was established in 1906 with about 160 commercial organization members and around 5,000 company members, covering over 40,000 transnational corporations, government organizations, large financial and commercial organizations and enterprises.
