Hechi city

The city of Hechi, in the Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, has beautiful scenery, breathtaking mountains, caves and water and even China’s Premier Wen Jiabao praised the city’s unique natural resources, ecology, and environment during his visit there for the Spring Festival in 2010.

The city is home to 4.2 million people and is famous for its culture and folk custom and has many people with long life spans, with around 15 per 100,000 people living to the age of 100. Its Bama Yao autonomous county has the world’s top percentage of people with long life spans, with more than 33 per 100,000 living above the age of 100.

Another prominent item in Hechi is the bronze drum, with hundreds of them appearing in museums around the world, and Hechi itself having more than 1,400 that have been handed down over the generations.

The city is also the hometown of Liu Sanjie, a well-known folk song singer from the Zhuang ethnic group.

 

Bama Yao autonomous county has been honored as “China’s longevity village”.
