First stage of Hangu Pass Ancient Town project kicks off

With an investment of nearly 1 billion yuan ($161.2 million), the first-stage of the Hangu Pass Ancient Town project has recently begun, symbolizing the start of construction of the first town featuring Lao Tzu (604-531 BC) culture in Sanmenxia.

To meet tourists’ various requirements, the extension project of Hangu Pass will integrate surrounding tourism resources and apply to become a “Chinese Historical and Cultural Town”.

Since last year, Hangu Pass Ancient Town has invested 50 million yuan ($8.06 million) to build two main streets and an antique street. Another 60 million yuan will be used to construct a central park and other facilities this year.
