Tombs from the Song Dynasty (AD 960-1276) have been recently discovered in a construction site in Sanmenxia in Central China’s Henan province.

Nearly 40 cultural relics, including earthen bottles, pottery jars, celadon bowls, bronze mirrors and copper cash were found in the archaeological discovery.

Two tombs from the Song Dynasty were found with multi-step tomb passages and handrails, features rarely seen in archeological discoveries in Sanmenxia.

The tombs with handrails are believed to reflect ancient burial customs of providing the dead with normal lives.
