CHANGSHA: The death toll of a manganese nodule pile collapse in central China's Hunan Province rose to 2 after another body was retrieved Sunday noon, local authorities said.
Twenty nine workers were evacuated while six were buried, he added.
Rescuers had previously retrieved a body at around 9 p.m. Saturday.
The four missing people had very slim chance of survival, said rescuer Yang Guoqing.
The company was operating illegally as the county work safety supervision bureau had ordered it to halt production two days before the accident, the spokesman said.
