Two men died after the 24 ton gas tank van they were travelling in overturned while passing a bridge and plunged into a river.

The vehicle, carrying the liquefied petroleum gas, dropped 10 meters into the river on national highway 312 in Danfeng County, Shaanxi Province on February 1.

Both men died at the scene and the road was closed for more than 20 hours.

Early reports suggested the cause of the accident was driver fatigue.

The gas tanker was lifted out of the river at 1:00 am the next day. No leak of liquefied gas was discovered.
