China's largest radio displayed in Yunnan

The largest radio in China measuring 4.3 meters long, 2.48 meters high and 1.04 meters thick went on display in the broadcasting museum in Yunnan December 9.

Standing in the lobby of the Central People's Broadcasting Station, the giant radio sculpture, model CR1100, is black, with a simple design and atmospheric.

Designed and manufactured by Guangdong De Sheng Electric Manufacturing Co along with the Yunnan People's Broadcasting Station, the radio is able to listen to Yunnan news broadcasts (FM105.8), Traffic Sound (FM91.8), Music Radio (FM97), Children's Radio (FM101.7) and more than 10 other sets of FM broadcasts.

Yunnan is the first radio broadcast museum and a specialized cultural museum in China. The museum was built in August 8, 2006. Its first show was in September 6, 2006 for commemoration of the 100th anniversary of broadcasting.

This museum is a record of sound technology, radio broadcasts of culture, education, research and communication.

At present, there are 52 thousand radio recordings and more than 150 thousand songs in the museum. It displays the history through pictures, audio-visual and multimedia setting out new broadcasting styles.

Yunnan Radio Museum was selected for the installation to showcase the impact television and radio has had on China in the past 60 years.
