In a global economy, trade protectionism hurts everyone, says an article in Jinghua Times. Excerpts:

Recently the exchange rate of the yuan has been in the news. It is predicted that some Western nations might resort to protectionist measures if China refuses to raise its exchange rate.

In a global economy, however, trade protectionism hurts everyone. If the US sets limits on imports from China, it will disrupt global trade and hurt the interests of everyone involved. A trade war would cause huge losses on all sides. Recent history provides plenty of examples of this, which should be considered by all.

To prevent worldwide losses and achieve a win-win result, China and Western nations should hold talks and bargain in good faith, rather than continuing to insist on their own positions.
