People all over China have shown their kindness by donating money and materials to victims of the Qinghai earthquake. The government should ensure that these donations are put to good use, says an article in China Youth Daily. Excerpts:
The fate of Yushu county has become the concern of the whole nation. Donations from all over China are flowing to the disaster-stricken area.
There is a problem with this expression of concern, however. Donors want to be certain that their contributions are put to good use. Many have tried to help or contribute in person, in order to be sure their donations reach the intended recipients.
This outpouring on concern demands a transparent and efficient delivery system. Auditing departments should be involved if necessary. Only a completely transparent system will win the trust of the public.
