The US recently reaffirmed its adherence to the one-China policy and said it did not support Taiwan independence. This is confusing because its words and actions do not match. The US has continued to sell weapons to Taiwan.
The US also said it considers Tibet to be part of China and does not support Tibet independence. If China is a body, then all its provinces and administrative regions are its integral parts. If the US believes in this, then why do its leaders ignore China's objections and keep meeting controversial figures?
Despite all these, the US reaffirmation would be welcomed if it acts were in line with what it says. It is time the US honored its words.
