Kunming Hi-Tech Zone will exhibit its 3D printing technology at the China-South Asia Expo starting from June 12 to 16, in Kunming city, Yunnan province, said authorities.

In the meantime, the Zone is investing 200 million yuan ($32 million) in setting up a 3D print industry base, one of four high-profile projects it is currently taking on.

The role of the base is to help produce electronic anti-counterfeiting devices, remote controlled medical equipment parts and medical implants. While tools and parts used in jewelry design, auto manufacturing and aerospace industry will be made by the 3D printers at the base.

Besides, the 3D printing techniques will also be used in producing cartoon art works to help promote Yunnan's rich ethnic and folklore cultures.
