Kunming Hi-Tech Zone focuses on student-oriented education

A seminar about school-based curriculum development was held on Feb 26 in the Kunming Hi-Tech Zone, Yunnan province. More than 40 heads and teachers from 24 kindergartens, primary and secondary schools within the Zone attended the seminar.

Seven schools’ representatives outlined their attempts and achievements on development of special courses that are designed according to their students’ characteristics, needs and interests.

The participants agreed that a successful school-based curriculum depends on the improvement in teachers’ professional competence. Therefore training teachers bears significance.

It aims to build quality faculty teams in all schools in the Zone to explore diversified learning resources and build a systematic knowledge management platform in order to facilitate schools’ sustainable development, according to the Zone’s culture and education authority, the host of the seminar.
