Located at the west coast of Pacific Ocean, west of Bohai bay and Haihe estuary, Tianjin port is on the intersection of Beijing and Tianjin metropolis and economic circle of Bohai rim zone. Serving as the marine gateway of capital Beijing, Tianjin port is the most indispensable port for foreign trade in northern China and the belt to link Northeast Asia and Midwest Asia.

Tianjin Port covers a total area of 336 square kilometers, of which land area accounts for 131 square kilometers. Tianjin Port mainly consists of North Port, South Port, East Port, South Zone of Harbor Economic Area and East Zone of Nangang Port. North Port is mainly engaged in the operation of containers and general cargoes; South Port focuses on dry bulk and liquid bulk cargoes; East Port focuses on container terminal operation and modern services of international shipping, logistics, trade and off-shore finance, and the urban functions in its eastern side are improving; the main development trend in the South Zone of Harbor Economic Area is heavy equipment manufacturing, new energy, food and light industry; the East Zone of Nangang Port is a new port area for bulk cargo of coal and ore.

Tianjin Port, the highest class artificial port in the world, can operate the largest vessel in Bohai Sea with -21m depth main navigation channel. There are 159 berths in Tianjin Port including 102 berths over 10,000 tonnage. With the total quay length of 32700m, and row upon row of large-scale berths and advanced gantry cranes, Tianjin Port is one of Chinese coastal ports that boast the most comprehensive functions.

Tianjin Port is the cradle of Chinese container transportation, the largest container ship sails from here to the world.

It has the largest specialized coke terminal and the most professional coal terminal in the world.

It has the highest class 300,000 tonnage crude oil terminal, largest petrochemical products distribution center in North China.

It has a 200,000 tonnage large iron ore terminal.

It has the specialized bulk grain terminal, bulk fertilizer terminal and roro terminal.

It also holds top ranking international passenger terminal; Tianjin International Cruise Home Port which is the largest in Asia had already put into operation. By the end of 2012, it had received 100 international cruise ships with 250000 passengers.

Tianjin Port has a strong ability to radiate both home and abroad. It has established trade relation with more than 500 ports in 180 countries and regions around the globe and has extend its service to 14 provinces, cities and autonomous regions nationwide, an area covering nearly 5 million square kilometers. Through its superb function and efficient service, Tianjin Port has bridged Midwest China with the world.

Tianjin Port is the most important comparative advantage and core strategic resource in Tianjin. It is also an essential component of Binhai New Area. As an important part and core carrier for constructing international shipping and logistics center in northern China and being supported by CPC Central Committee, State Council, CPC Tianjin Committee and Tianjin Municipal Government, Tianjin Port continuously builds up its ability of radiation and influence, providing strong impetus for Tianjin to become an international port city and economic center in northern China.

By actively bringing in modern logistics concept and constantly developing service function, 23 inland ports and 4 regional marketing centers have been set up in inland area, 15 regular direct container train services have been provided and the integrated logistics network covering the central and western China has been established. Tianjin Port is the only port which have three Eurasia continental bridges of Alataw Shankou, Erenhot and Manzhouli, and the service to Northeast and Midwest Asia has been strengthened.

The finished Tianjin international trade and shipping service center is the largest “one-stop” shipping service center and electronic port in China, which integrates such comprehensive service items as customs, quarantine, port service, bank, information and consulting service. The under-construction Tianjin international trade and shipping service zone will cover such areas as trade service, market operation, information distribution, talent exchange and commercial recreation, forming a central shipping business zone.

The 30km2 East Port is fully reclaimed. The area will integrate cargo handling, storage, logistics, processing, business, residence and tourism. A 10 square kilometers free port is already operated, and focuses on international transfer, distribution, procurement, trade, shipping financing, shipping trade, shipping leasing and off-shore finance service business. It becomes the largest and most open free port in China. It will become the core economic functional area for northern Chinese international shipping and logistics center, experimental area for port management system reform, antecedent area for the development and opening of Binhai New Area and sample area for free trade. It will offer Tianjin Port a more capacious room for development.

In the new century, the throughput of Tianjin Port was increasing rapidly, the throughput broke through 100 million tons in 2001, 200 million tons in 2004, 300 million tons in 2007 and 400 million tons with 10 million teus container throughput in 2010; in 2012, Tianjin Port achieved a cargo throughput of 477 million tons, ranking world No.4; the container throughput was 12.3 million TEUs, ranking world No. 11.

With total assets of RMB 100 billion yuan, Tianjin Port (Group) Co., Ltd. is the principle part of Tianjin Port. It has nearly 40,000 employees and more than 70 subordinate companies including two listed companies at home and abroad. It ranked No. 403 out of top 500 Chinese enterprises evaluation in 2012. As the model base of corporate culture, under the guideline of the corporate philosophy of “development, people oriented, excellent, harmony”, Tianjin Port insists on the core value method of “development of the port, achievement of its employees”, carries out the corporate obligation of “shouldering on social expectation, distributing domestic and foreign civilization”, and forms the corporate system of “Chinese Ding”. In the 12th five-year plan period, Tianjin Port is innovating the development mode, adjusting the industry structure, committing itself to develop the port operation industry, international logistics industry, port real estate industry and port comprehensive service industry, further improve the industry diversification structure with core of “four main industries”, marching towards the first class enterprise in the world. By 2017, the cargo throughput of Tianjin Port will exceed 600 million tons and container volume will surpass 20 million TEUs. As a container hub port facing northeast Asia and radiating west-central Asia, the port will maintain its leading position in northern China, turning into a first class large port with advanced facility, perfect function, scientific management, effective operation, harmonious humanity and ecological livable. Since then, Tianjin Port definitely will have unfolded its heroic posture as a world top class port on the orient of the world.

Chinese port launches first blockchain customs system
