Millionaire jailed in car thefts

A millionaire who told a Chengdu court that he stole cars because it helped lift his depression has been sentenced to eight years in prison. Cheng Lixin testified at his trial that he was more animated, and ate and slept better in the month after he stole his first car in October 2014. An investigation determined Cheng stole three cars before he was detained in March. Cheng, who operates a private company and owns properties valued at more than 20 million yuan, refused to accept the verdict and said he would appeal.
