There was a major tourism promotion campaign that began, on Dec 2 in Guangzhou, Guangdong province -- Shanxi leisure tourism -- that attracted 200 travel agents and journalists and had Shanxi province's vice-governor, Wang Yixin, on hand to explain the province's tourism resources and preferential policies.

While Shanxi's tourism business has benefitted economically and socially from the province's resources and improved infrastructure, it can benefit further from Guangdong province, which has plenty of advantages and experience in international tourism. This is a promising area for cooperation and shared tourist sources, as well as scenic spot development, improved management, and personnel training. The two provinces signed an agreement on increasing the number of agencies and investor cooperation.
