The second Apple Festival of Linyi county, Shanxi province, from Oct 22 to 24, is being successfully held in the city of Heihe, Heilongjiang province.

On the first day of the event, an apple sales contract worth of 2.26 billion yuan ($371.29 million) was signed between Linyi and Heihe，and Linyi and Russian dealers.

The event was held to further open the markets of Linyi apples in Russia and increase their shares in the Chinese northeastern market. A series of activities and programs will be held during the event with rich content and strong involvement for showcasing apple culture.

Linyi county, located in the southwest part of Shanxi province, owns the largest apple planting area and the largest amount of production output in the country, and the annual output of apples in the county reaches 4 billion jin (2 billion kg).

During recent years, the Linyi government has been putting great importance on the development of the fruit industry, and by using advanced technologies, the sales volume of apples in the markets of Northeastern China and Russia has continually increased.
