Shanxi province and the China Huaneng Group had a discussion, on Aug 9, on increasing cooperation in the field of energy, with Li Xiaopeng, the provincial governoe, and Cao Peixi, GM of Huangneng, taking part and Li expressing gratitude for Huaneng's contribution to the economic and social development of Shanxi, especially in energy development, clean energy usage, and poverty relief in rural areas.

Li went on to explain that Shanxi is building a modern industrial system, with coal as its foundation, for the low-carbon development of high-carbon resources and green development of coal resources. He said he hoped Huaneng could take this opportunity to get involved in clean energy exploitation, sustainable economic development, and coal trading reforms and increase its investment in low-carbon industrial park development, coal-electricity integration, and new energy exploitation. He said the provincial government will support Huaneng's business in Shanxi for common prosperity and common development of enterprises and the local economy.
