Shanxi firms make it to the Fortune 500 list

The Shanxi Coking Coal Group and four other Shanxi firms were added to the Fortune Global 500 list of the world's biggest companies, for 2013, which was published on July 8, with the other four being the Shanxi Yangquan Coal Industry Group, Lu'an Group, Datong Coal Mine Group, and Jincheng Anthracite Mining Group.

There were 11 other Chinese companies to make their debut on the list. Shanxi Coking Coal is a State-owned company and China’s biggest coking coal producer.

China has the second-largest number of companies on the list of all other countries, with the China Petrochemical Corp (Sinopec), China National Petroleum Corp (CNPC), and State Grid Corp among this year's Top 10, in the fourth, fifth and seventh slots, respectively.

The threshold for joining the Fortune 500 this year increased by $1.2 billion dollars in operation revenue, to 23.2 billion, and the total revenue is up to $30.3 trillion, an increase of 2.77 percent.
