Colored glaze dragon discovered in Shanxi’s Jinci Temple

Eight colored-glaze dragons had been recently found at the top of the Sarira Living Tower, in the Jinci Temple, in Shanxi province, the largest extant group of old garden buildings in China. Chai Ze, a specialist in classical buildings, was impressed by the eight dragons, and declared them to be top works of art.

Li Jinfang, the head of the classical structure department at the Jinci Temple Museum, explained that, because this was the first time the tower had been renovated, the dragons had remained hidden for so long. The renovation work began last August and is expected to be finished this May, at which time tourists can enjoy the magnificent colored glaze of the dragons.
