Qi county, in Shanxi province, often referred to as "China's Glassware City" recently received National Bureau of Quality Inspection go-ahead on a demonstration area, for developing a national "famous glassware" brand. The project is expected to be finished in two years.

The demonstration area is expected to get strong policy support from the local government and the National Bureau of Quality Inspection, which will help promote the county's glassware business, structural adjustment, and improvements.

Qi county has 22 brands, seven of which have the "famous brand" designation at the province-level or higher.
