Shanxi government leader meets with CNOOC executives

The vice-governor of Shanxi province, Wang Yixin, met with Wang Yilin, the president of China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC), on March 12, in the company of Yang Hua, the GM of CNOOC, for in-depth talks on work on a Datong SNG (Synthetic Natural Gas) project.

Wang explained that the SNG project is a benchmark in industrial transformation in the province and that the government considers it very importance and has even set up a special department to coordinate it and deal with any problems arising during the process. He added that they will do their best to provide all the needed services for the project’s success.

The Datong project involves the comprehensive utilization of coal in a cooperative venture by CNOOC and the Datong Coal Mine Group in Zuoyun county, at a cost of 25.3 billion yuan. The project’s main goal is natural gas production, with an expected rate of 4 billion cubic meters per year. It is expected to go into production in 2017.
