Shanxi province held a communication conference in Beijing, on Jan 9, to encourage provincial cooperation with Central enterprises, enterprises under supervision and management of Central government, with Yuan Chunqing, provincial Party secretary, and Li Xiaopeng, acting governor addressing the audience.Shanxi Daily reported Thursday.

The focus was on difficulties in completing the investment projects in Shanxi province, and participants were asked to give opinions and suggestions on ways to cooperate further.

Yuan said he appreciated the Central enterprises’ support for reforms and provincial development and that the industrial transformation had reached a new stage, so, over the next 10 years, the province’s economy will keep developing in a robust way. Under the 12th Five-year Plan (2011-16), the total volume of Shanxi’s fixed asset investment is expected to exceed 5 trillion yuan, so there is room to grow.

Central enterprises need to be confident about the province, Yuan added, and continue investing there. Both parties should use their own advantages more, with market discipline and guidance, to develop significant projects and build an industrial chain for an efficient combination of capital, technology, talent, and resources.

Li introduced the province’s social and economic development and said he hoped the Central enterprises can increase investment in Shanxi, and their cooperation with it, for an overall winning situation. Some Central enterprises representatives were also on hand for the conference and expressed their appreciation for the provincial government’s support and said they will take an active part in Shanxi’s social and economic transformation and development and contribute to an environmentally friendly economy and healthy, sustainable development there.
