An exhibition displaying more than 3,000 rare shellfish specimens and cultural relics related to shellfish opened on July 16 at Shandong Museum in Jinan, capital of East China's Shandong province.

The event boasts the largest number of natural exhibits at the museum.

The exhibition features themes, showing shellfish in literature, their uses in medicine and in diet, and stamps with the subject of shellfish.

As summer holiday approaches, the event organizers have also prepared interaction activities for children.

These include making soap in shape of shellfish, drawing pictures themed around the sea and courses to learn about shellfish.
