The annual Yuhuangding temple fair kicked off on Feb 20 in the eastern coastal city of Yantai showcasing a wide array of 40 intangible cultural heritage performances.

Included in the Shandong provincial intangible cultural heritage list in 2016, the Yuhuangding Temple Fair is a traditional Chinese event held in Yantai on the 15th day of the first lunar month to celebrate the birthday of the Jade Emperor.

This year's temple fair was designed to highlight Chinese intangible culture heritages, including shadow play, Haiyang Yangko (a Chinese folk dance form), Laizhou brush writing, Yantai paper cutting, stilt walking and dragon and lion dances.

Some intangible culture heritages like sachet handicrafts from Henan province, Lihou handmade tigers from Shanxi province and block printing from Jiangsu province also debuted at the temple fair.
