Shandong Cultural Center was established in 1957, and approved to be the Shandong provincial intangible cultural heritage preservation center in 2007. It is a national cultural center and an affiliated nonprofit cultural institution under the Shandong provincial cultural department.

The center is engaged in the public cultural activities and theoretical study, publicity and popularization of cultural and art knowledge and training of professionals. In addition, it is responsible for the excavation, collection, research and preservation of the Shandong’s intangible cultural heritages.

The new cultural center was reconstructed on the original site of the Shandong Museum and completed in 2013, with a construction area of 14,200 square meters.

It is home to a public cultural activity center, a research center and offices, as well as an intangible cultural heritage exhibition center.

The outdoor area includes a public cultural plaza, two plazas for the senior residents and children.
