The Hebei Provincial Environmental Protection Agency recently announced that five new plans shall be carried out to address key environmental problems and greatly improve the ecological environment, Hebei Economic Daily reported on Friday.

The first plan will work on reducing pollution emissions. It will begin by implementing an energy conservation and emission reduction demonstration project targeting 30 key counties and 30 key enterprises. The project will focus on the supervision of 1,000 key enterprises to make breakthroughs in transforming production methods.

The second plan seeks to carry out comprehensive renovation for urban and rural environments and make new breakthroughs in improving the living environment. The plan will focus on five areas that need more oversight, including coal reduction, dust reduction, enterprise relocation, vehicle control and greening extension. The plan will comprehensively improve urban atmospheric quality and rural environments.

The third plan will improve water quality and create ecological demonstration areas.

The fourth plan will perform ecological demonstration creation activities, making new breakthroughs in ecological protection and construction and promoting the construction of national environmental protection demonstration cities and provincial environmental protection model cities.

The last plan will carry out related activities to speed up and improve environment assessment. It will focus on enhancing project reviews and approvals to promote the improvement of the development environment.
