Hebei to help 100,000 households increase incomes and alleviate poverty

2012-08-30

A report and mobilization meeting detailing new round inspections by the Standing Committee of the Hebei Provincial People's Congress regarding poverty alleviation and development was held on August 27. Hebei will work hard to alleviate industrial poverty and will focus on increasing income for 100,000 poverty-stricken households this year.

In recent years, Hebei has closely followed poor households and actively carried out cell projects for poverty alleviation and development in order to set an income-increase program for every family. From 2006 to 2011, Hebei helped more than 300,000 households establish regular income projects such as vegetable farming facilities, husbandry facilities, edible mushroom and choice fruit farming. The work promotes local economic development and increases farmer income.

At the same time, Hebei has implemented the "Yulu Plan" training project. In its first year in 2012, Hebei has subsidized more than 6,000 poor students to attend vocational training. In addition, it has held more than 100 training sessions teaching practical agricultural technology to 12,000 farmers.
