Libo tops popular destination spots in summer

As the nationwide temperature hit record highs after July, Libo, the UNESCO World Heritage Site in Guizhou, became immensely popular thanks to its unique ecologic advantages and cool climate.

The number of road-tripping tourists to Libo has been continuously increasing recently. Figures show a 10 percent rise from last year. The daily passenger flow volume on July 22 hit a record high of more than 6,000.

The head of Libo's bus station said the staff in the station are trying their best to satisfy passengers.

One or two more buses have been added to the line from Libo to Duyun every day, and 10 buses have been added to the route to Xiaoqikong Tourist Site every day.

According to statistics from the Libo tourism bureau, in July, Libo received 79.87 million tourists, an increase of 55.2 percent year-on-year. Tourism revenue reached 742 million yuan ($121.19 million), an increase of 51.43 percent year-on-year.

From January to July 2013, Libo received 3.35 million tourists, a year-on-year growth of 60.3 percent. Tourism revenue reached 3.02 billion yuan ($49.32 million), a year-on-year growth of 58.8 percent.

On July 27, Zhangjiang scenic spot hit a record high, welcoming 12,960 tourists, an increase of 127 percent year-on-year.

The boom in Libo's tourism has not only boosted the local economy, but also benefited surrounding counties and cities including Sandu and Dushan.
