Guizhou raises subsistence allowance standard

A raise in subsistence allowance standards for 2013 in Guizhou has been completed and put into effect, said the Guizhou Provincial Department of Civil Affairs on May 16.

Discrepancies due to the change since the first quarter of this year have been repaid to recipients.

The number of urban residents eligible for subsistence allowance reached 517,000. After the raise of the standard, the monthly average standard has increased by 13.23 percent to 352 yuan ($57.27) from 311 yuan in 2012. For the 4.85 million rural residents eligible for the subsistence allowance, the yearly average standard has been increased by 12.6 percent to 1,841 yuan from 1,635 yuan in 2012.
