The police department of Guizhou province has vowed to strengthen measures on economic crime, said a senior official during a press conference held in Guiyang, capital of Guizhou province, on Monday.

According to him, measures will be taken on economic crimes including violation of intellectual property, manufacturing and selling fake goods, illegal fund-raising and other prominent economic crimes.

Since this year, the provincial public security department has carried out a series of actions on economic crime. By May 5, 2013, the province has resolved a total of 794 various types of economic crimes with 209 suspects taken into custody and involving more than 260 million yuan ($42.25 million).

At the same time, the Guizhou provincial public security department launched a one-year “anti-fake” strategy. As of now, 59 cases have been solved with 115 suspects detained. Some 40 facilities for producing fake goods have been successfully taken down by the local police force.

A spokesperson from the police department said that the police force should further cooperate with other law enforcement organizations to combat economic crime and prevent similar activity in the near future.
