Approximately 4.1 million tourists – mainly from Chongqing, Guangdong, Jiangsu, Hubei, Hong Kong and Taiwan – chose Guizhou as their tourist destination on Tomb-Sweeping Day. The holiday generated tourism revenues of 1.28 billion yuan ($206.3 million), a year-on-year growth of 29.2 percent.

Tourists from outside Guizhou preferred self-driving tours to travel through the region. The number of sedans with less than seven seats entering Guizhou on April 4 and 5 totaled 583,000. Self-driving tourists made up 47.5 percent of scenic spot visitors.

During Qingming Festival, the most popular activities included sweeping tombs and visiting resorts. Medium and short distance travel continued to be most popular, including trips to the suburbs, inner-provincial areas, theme parks and mountain villas. Qingyan ancient town and Huaxi National Wetland Park welcomed 35,200 and 68,300 tourists, respectively.

Most parts of Guizhou province saw rain during the holiday, encouraging as many as 5,600 people to spend the vacation in hot springs.
