Guizhou seeks support for tourism development

"China should intensify support of Guizhou's tourism development," said Wang Wei, member of the national committee of the CPPCC and vice-chairman of the Guizhou Industry and Commerce Association, during the first session of the 12th National People's Congress.

Guizhou is rich in tourism resources and scattered with 12 national-level scenic spots, 57 provincial-level scenic spots, seven national nature reserves, four national geological parks and 19 national cultural relics.

Wang said,"Guizhou's tourism resources are abundant, with more than 1,000 spots worth exploiting."

In addition,Guizhou is also rich in cultural resources. The mountain and ethnic cultures attract tourists at home and abroad.

The traditional ethnic culture is a signature in Guizhou. More than 17 ethnic groups have lived in Guizhou for generations, including the Miao, Dong, Buyi, Shui, Yi and Gelao.

Guizhou's annual average temperature is 15.6 C, with no extreme winters or summers. Guizhou has become a famous summer resort with its comfortable climate conditions

"Guizhou's tourism is likely to become its pillar industry as it increasingly becomes a favorite tourist destination," said Wang.
