Waterway fixed-asset investments in Guizhou will exceed 1 billion yuan ($16.04 million) this year, announced the Guizhou Marine & Navigation Video and Telephone Conference.

Construction of the Wujiang River Navigation Project will be accelerated. Approximately 200 million yuan ($32.1 million) will be invested into various projects including the Luowang River wharf and Jiangjie River wharf and the marine search and rescue centers in Zunyi, Sinan and four other counties.

Guizhou will begin construction of the Sanbanxi Navigation Project, which will be financed with 60 million yuan ($9.63 million). A total of 360 ferries will be completed in various townships and counties. The Chishui River Navigation Capacity Expansion Project will also be initiated.

Guizhou will cooperate with other regions to promote navigation. The province will also strive to gain support from the Changjiang River Administration of Navigational Affairs and the Pearl River Administration of Navigational Affairs in order to sign a cooperation agreement to promote the waterway plan and development in Guizhou.
