Guiyang, Guizhou province, South China, will hold more than 150 large-scale exhibitions in 2013, reaching an expected economic benefit of 13 billion yuan ($2.08 billion), according to the Guiyang exhibition office.

In 2012 alone, Guiyang held 240 exhibitions and 433 conferences, including the China (Guizhou) International Alcoholic Beverages Expo, Eco Forum Guiyang and Asian Youth Animation & Comics Contest.

The number of visitors reached 3.52 million in 2012, a year-on-year growth of 78.25 percent. Total economic benefit in 2012 reached 10 billion yuan.

Last year's exhibitions covered almost all major sectors in Guiyang's urban development and presented Guiyang as an emerging, modern Chinese city to the world.

On the basis of last year's results, the exhibitions in the new year will cover clothing, advertising, tourism products, the information industry and high-end consumer goods.

In addition, Guizhou will also hold more than 60 sporting events, 35 of which will open in Guiyang, including five international sporting events and 30 national events.
