Guizhou's industrial growth ranks third in the country

The industrial economy size in Guizhou reached an added value of 225 billion yuan ($36.16 billion) in 2012, a year-on-year increase of 22 percent. The added value of the industry size of 20 million, increased by 16.3 percent, 6.2 percentage points higher than the national average and ranking third in the country, said the Guizhou Economy and Information Commission.

The light industry reached an added value of 82 billion yuan ($13.18 billion), an increase of 3.8 percent year-on-year. Growth in the cigarette sector, white wine sector and special foods sector all exceeded 25 percent. The private economy accomplished an added value of 260 billion yuan ($41.78 billion), making up 40 percent of the provincial GDP.

The stable support has played a significant role in the fast development of the Guizhou economy. By the end of 2012, the coal inventory had amounted to 8.98 million tons. Industrial electricity consumption reached 78.3 billion kilowatt-hours, a year-on-year increase of 9.45 percent. The purchase of petroleum products and railway transportation volume increased by 14 percent and 7 percent, respectively.

The Guizhou Economy and Information Commission also emphasized strengthening industry cultivation, development quality, industry drivers, project construction and ability improvement to actively promote Guizhou’s progress.
