Guizhou establishes balanced transportation network

Infrastructure construction in Guizhou has progressed rapidly in the last five years. A balanced transportation development network including roads, railways and civil aviation has been established, said the first session of the 12th Guizhou Provincial People's Congress.

The mileage of newly completed roads has reached 38,000 kilometers, with total road mileage reaching 160,000 kilometers. As for expressways, the mileage of newly completed expressways has reached 1,670 kilometers, with another 2,500 kilometers under construction. Roughly 100 kilometers of railways have been completed, and another 1,400 kilometers are under construction, said Chen Min'er, deputy secretary general of the Guizhou Provincial Party Committee and acting governor of Guizhou province.

In addition, Guiyang Longdongbao International Airport has been upgraded to Class 4E with second-term expansion almost complete. During the 12th Five-Year Plan period, Guizhou will establish a civil aviation system centered around Longdongbao International Airport.

In the next three years, Guizhou will form a main expressway network covering the whole province, connecting Guizhou to other parts of the country.

According to the plan, by 2015, total expressway construction investment will amount to 400 billion yuan ($64.28 billion), and total mileage of expressways will reach 5,100 kilometers.

The development of expressways will set a solid transportation and communication foundation to build of a moderately prosperous society in all respects in Guizhou.
