Guizhou offers support for private learning institutions

Guizhou's Provincial Education Department is currently working to formulate its Opinions on Further Deepening the Reform of Education and Broadening the Opening-Up of Education, Guiyang Daily reported.

In accordance with the document, by 2014, Guizhou will establish 170 new private kindergartens , 52 new private secondary schools or vocational secondary schools, and three new private colleges.

Guizhou will also implement supportive policies articulated by the laws and regulations of private educational institutions. In addition, Guizhou will develop Chinese-foreign cooperative educational institutions.

Meanwhile, Guizhou will improve academic qualification standards in middle and elementary schools. By 2015, at least 80 percent of teachers in elementary schools will have a college diploma or above. At least 60 percent of teachers in junior middle schools will have a bachelor's degree or above. At least 2 percent of teachers in secondary schools will have a master's degree or above.
